Happy Costumized Spring Detox

I have not been active on this blog for ages, but since I feel so much inspiration to share (is it spring?), I decided to start writing on this blog. Later there will probably be a new blog coming up, but more about that later;)..

For now I love to share my 'detox' experience that I am having right now and over the last week.

Over the last few years I have been challenged with very sensitive digestive system, resulting in weight gain, low energy, a feeling of stuck energy in my belly and my left hip, and also a very valuable exploration journey along the way of raw food (one of my big inspirations and dear friend Sandra de Vos, www.lekkerraw.nl), veganism (also dear friend and inspiration Lisette Kreischer, www.lisettekreischer.com), macrobiotic diet loads of learning about healthy natural foods and natural living!

A week ago my 'moon time' or menstruation started, and over the last years I started to notice more and more in the body that this is actually like a natural detox. Both physically and mentally, energetically.
My system wants to pull back from 'worldly activities', mostly I feel a lot more sensitive, meditative and it's typically a time of letting go, letting go of events that happened over the last month, letting go of my will and surrendering to the softening of my body.

Now My body also is very naturally letting go of toxins and fluids and many times i notice as soon as my moontime starts, i sweat more, and my stool gets much more active;)..and opposite from what happens right before my period (lots of cravings for food), I feel very little cravings or needs for food.
A very nice opportunity to surf the wave and do a little 'detox'.
Since disciplined, will-powered detoxing is not my thing and therefore never successful, I decided to really feel into what suits my needs, what is realistic for me with my lifestyle and from that point on set very clear intentions, put a not on my cupboard with what I WOULD LIKE TO eat, what I could eat maximum ones a day for emotional nourishment (just to have an ease of mind), and what I would like to avoid eating... You can find the list in the photo, but basically the diet evolved to what I like to call 'Soep, Salade, Sap', which means Soup, Salad, Juice.
The emergency food involved rice milk, rice crackers, raw chocolate, and what I wanted to avoid was mainly sugar, coffee, gluten and lactose, mostly cheese, meat and carbohydrates.

Sounds like, for the ears of an everage eater probably like a strong diet, for the raw foodist and vegan, kind of a normal daily diet. For me? A mild detox and an opportunity to detox mainly from food cravings that I had been developing over the last few months that where not serving me. Next to that I sill feel good with sometimes eating cooked food, and I LOVE soups! The salads could include sometimes beans, lentils and or nuts, to have something heavy to digest maybe ones a day, and the soups could include sweet potato and coconut milk, nice and creamy ;)..
Promising myself I would do this for a week keeps the goal approachable, and whenever I have a hard moment I can tell myself, I only have a week to go, or everyday even less then that;)

Now, one week later, I can very contently say it was a sucessfull costumized Die-tox, that suits me very well. I have had my moments, but after 3 days (of being in my period and feeling my body adjusting anyway), my cravings for sugar, chocolat and bread faded, and soon the opposite was happening, I didn't even really want to eat heavy digestable foods. I must say I have never felt such a smooth natural way of changing my diet, that actually gave me so much joy.

And the result? One fo the things I like so much is that the result didn't matter that much to me, yes it is of course a big pro, but I noticed that I wasn't thinking about the results all the time, because that was not what I was doing it for! But nevertheless;), here are the results uptill now..
My body and mind feel clear and light, most of all, my energy levels are much more stable, the food cravings (which I normally have especially when I am home alone in the night) are gone, I am not loning for coffee at all, better then that I want to avoid that caffeine rush for a bit longer actually;). I think I lost a few kilo's of weight, and I feel my body and especially m belly, which I was kindof hiding f I could, is completely welcome again, so I feel more free, and my body is more flexible and free around my belly and hips.

Today I am treating myself on a day (day 8) in the Spa (Spa zuiver for those who know it) and I expected that I would want to treat myself on a cup of coffee and maybe some pastry, but I'm not sure anymore if that feels like a treat. I think the treat I am looking forward to is a nice salad and a soup... a nap, the nice company of my beloved and deep breaths enjoying my detoxed body...

Thank you for reading,
what are your happy detox experiences? ~

Some tips and trics..
~ the loveliest creamy treat I had during this week was homemade coconut yogurt, bought at Unlimited health, Amsterdam
~ what can help at moments you feel hungry is some lemon water with cayenn pepper or lots of ginger extract and some agavesyrup
~ in other cases of 'hunger' and in need of easing the belly, I could put a tablespoon of chia seeds in a cup of ricemilk or diluted with a bit of water (half warmed up). This would feel like having a meal;)

Soon more stuff I like to share on this blog, and more news about my upcoming new wesbite and another very exciting event that I will tell about later ~ Happy springing! Much love, Dieke
